There are several diseases that can trouble a woman’s life. Most of them can be avoided or taken care of with a little awareness, care and regular treatments.
– Heart disease is the leading killer among both men and women. In women, this trouble is the cause for about 29% of deaths. Most of the women go undiagnosed often leading to a fatal situation. There are many factors for heart disease- smoking, physical inactivity, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure. The best way out is to lead an active lifestyle and get a regular check up when you reach the age 40 and always eat a healthy low fat diet.
– The biggest and common cancer among women is the breast cancer leading to several deaths. The women must educate themselves and be aware of the various factors associated with breast cancer. Family history, genes are common causes. Always go for regular checkups, especially when there is cancer history in the family. Every women or girl needs to learn the basic way of checking for breast cancer periodically (consult your doctor). This helps in early detection and has more chances of total cure.
– Osteoporosis affects usually the women. It leads to frail and weak bones, back pain. A sedentary lifestyle, smoking and alcoholism, diet low in calcium and Vitamin D, etc. are some of the causes. Women need to inculcate a habit of taking their dose of calcium and vitamin D regularly from a young age. Younger women can get calcium from milk, cheese, yogurt, sardines, fortified cereals and juices, etc. Women who are 40 and above have to take calcium and vitamin D supplements regularly. Another factor to be kept in mind is that the Asian women are more prone to this disease.
– Another big health problem that plagues the women is depression, weak mental health. Family problems, abuse, drug or alcohol addiction, illness are all causes for depression. Depression tends to be seen more in women than men. It is highly important for women to maintain their mental peace, for this they should practice mediation. Regular sittings with a therapist also help. It’s highly important to have a positive frame of mind.
